‘I visited Midland Hearing recently with my son (3) to see if he was eligible for Adhear, a non surgical bone conduction device that is now being offered by Jenevieve and her team. Since birth, my son has had limited hearing in his right ear, which has hindered some areas of his speech. From the moment we walked in to the practice and we were greeted by Claire, we were immediately put at ease. Claire made a special effort to speak to my son at his height level and talk to him about the toys he brought with him. When we went into the consultation room we met with Jenevieve and Megan, they could not have been more welcoming and friendly. They answered every question I had and they provided colouring sheets to keep my son entertained. Megan was very good with him and kept him entertained for the duration of our appointment. When they checked his ears they were so kind and patient with him, this is a task that has caused him distress in the past but they completely put him at ease and made a game of the experience. Thankfully he was a candidate for the Adhear and since getting it he has come on so much. His speech has improved and he has become so much more confident in himself. He is singing and chatting away like never before. I'm so thankful that Jenevieve and team brought this amazing device to us. Attended last week with my 6 year old daughter. We were put at ease straight away. Jenevieve explained everything in a way that both myself and my daughter could understand and made the hearing tests a game which helped my daughter to relax and enjoy her visit. Brought my little girl (5 yrs old ) over for a hearing test today . Her older brother ( 7 ) was with me also . I didn’t think customer care like this existed anymore and it was a breath of fresh air to meet the 3 ladies working there today … they went above and beyond to show their kindness to me and the kids . My daughter came out saying “that was fun !!” They explained all the tests as they were happening and were so efficient and professional. Please support this great service in the midlands ! ‘I’ve been putting it on the long finger for years… getting hearing aids, that is, but in February ’22, I bit the bullet and made an appointment with Jenevieve at Midland Hearing Care. In my naivety, I thought a one hour consultation and return after a week to pick up the hearing aids would suffice. Boy, how wrong can a person be!
With hearing aids, I quickly learned, one size doesn’t work for all. Everyone is different and hearing deterioration is as unique as the individual.
At the end of the consultation - which consisted of a battery of tests - Jenevieve had a fair idea of my deafness level. And this is where the Midland Hearing patient care came into play. Instead of telling me to come back in a week for my hearing aids, I was given a pair to try at home. “See how you get on for two weeks,” Jenevieve said, “then we’ll decide if this particular brand works for you or not.”
Over the two weeks, I kept a basic daily diary noting various before and after scenarios. I mailed that to Jenevieve before my second appointment, and she decided to try a different technology, for another two weeks! I mean, where else would you get that level of precision?
As it happened the second pair of “trainers” didn’t work as well for me, (because everyone is different and hearing deterioration is as unique as the individual) so we reverted back to the original technology, but not before the hearing aids were fine-tuned to the nth degree, to suit me.
What I thought would take a week took nearly two months before Jenevieve, ably assisted by Claire, declared themselves satisfied. During that time, the attention to detail I received was truly outstanding. No question was too silly. I never felt rushed, or that I was just a number. Nor was I pushed into purchasing specific high-end products.
I walked into Midland Hearing Care in late February ’22, not really understanding a word Jenevieve was saying through her Covid mask. (Sorry, Jenevieve). I walked out on April 7th with hearing aids I could afford and a bagful of back-up “stuff” that allows for any possible emergency.
Hearing technology is expensive. But included in the price are the countless (ongoing) years of learning, training and knowledge that Jenevieve has acquired, in order to qualify as a clinical audiologist. I expect and want that level of understanding, wisdom and patient-focused care when it comes to my health. To me, that’s priceless.’
